How referrals work

  1. Your Probation Officer refers you

Services are for people under Prop. 36 or Prop. 47. Your Probation Officer must make the referral.

  2. Meet our social worker in Sonora

They'll look at your needs and background to see which services you qualify for.

  3. Choose your services

You'll get a menu of services to pick from, and our social worker helps you get started.

Probation Officers: to refer a client, call our main office at (209) 955-0701.

What we can help with

Here are some examples of the services available.

  • Get help getting important documents like your driver's license, birth certificate or Social Security card.
  • Get job leads and help with your resume and interview skills.
  • Take our classes in job readiness, conflict resolution, substance use, positive parenting, financial literacy and tenants' rights. You'll get a certificate to share with your Probation or Parole Officer, the court or other agencies.
  • Ask us about referrals to local colleges or trade schools to jumpstart your career.
  • In some cases, get rental assistance to move into housing (eligibility rules apply).
